Often misspelled and mispronounced, Ogunquit is the friendly little beach and artist colony that hovers on the southern coast of Maine. Ogunquit features one of the top rated beaches in the USA, and a picturesque walk called the Marginal Way. Ogunquit is only 4 square miles. There are two main sections: the village, and Perkins Cove. Most gay nightlife and B&B's are located in the village.

All Year! High season is Memorial Day to Labor Day. Reservations are highly recommended. Fall foliage is also a great time to go. There are many different events happening during the year.

Ogunquit has several ATM's and three Banks (Bank of America, Key, & Kennebunk Savings).

During season many people will go to the Front Porch or Maine Street for apres soleil cocktails. Then people migrate to many of the numerous restaurants. Cuisine ranges from French Country at Provence, to pizza at La Pizzeria to seafood at Oarweed Restaurant in Perkins Cove. Maine Street is popular all evening. The Club starts late around 10 pm and swings to 1 am. Like all of Maine, last call is before 1 am. The Club has a tea dance every Sunday from 5 to 9. Maine Street has tea dance Saturdays and Sundays from 4 to 8.

The Gay & Lesbian section is 200 yards going north on the beach. When you hear Cher playing on the radio you know you've arrived!

The Ogunquit attitude is quite friendly compared to other gay resort towns. It's quite easy to strike up a conversation at Maine Street, the Front Porch or The Club. The local gay crowd tends to be helpful and friendly!

We strongly recommend The Privileged Pet, located on Route 1 north, five miles before you arrive to the village center. This place is spotless, and air-conditioned. Reservations for your pet are a MUST. Kennel cough shots are required. Call them at 207.363.5700.

Ogunquit is a very safe town with almost no crime. Take normal precautions, but you should not feel unsafe walking through town at any time of the day or night. In addition, we are blessed with a gay-friendly police force.
