La Pizzeria has always been one of the most popular spots in town - the long lines outside the door all summer attest to that. Andrew and Gennaro have built a large clientele with lots of customers who retrun year after year - and they remain Ogunquit's only fresh dough pizzeria.
The amazing thing is that after 10 years they still do it all. Andrew cooks and Gennaro minds the store. On the night of our visit, Gennaro was rushing off to make a delivery. Yes - they deliver! Just call 646-1143 and a fresh pizza will be delivered right to your door, motel room, wherever.

We've had the pizza many times, so we thought we'd sample some of the other dishes. We started with the Rustica Salad, which is a delicious combination of greens, shaved parmasean, pine nuts, cranberries and a vinaigrette dressing. They also offer appetizers such as Bruschetta, which is a crisp garlic bread covered in fresh tomatoes and basil. From my own experience I will suggest that you get an Antipasto salad to go - it keeps well in the refrigerator and is great for tomorrow's lunch!

We sampled the day's special, Spinach and Chicken Cannelloni. This is traditional Italian food at its best. The pasta was fresh and topped with a thick alfredo sauce. The sauce had a powerfully good flavor of roasted garlic. It started out tasting cheesy and ended up tasting smoky.
The Lobster Alfredo was also very good. The lobster tasted fresh, and had a slight crunch - indicating that it wasn't frozen or overcooked. The pasta was cooked al dente. We weren't expecting such an expertly good dish in a pizza restaurant!
In addition to making their own pizza dough fresh daily, La Pizzeria also makes its own meatballs. The homemade meatballs have a wonderful consistency and flavor, and are made using fresh beef (ground locally by the Village Food Market), rosemary, oregano and mozzerella. The tomato sauce is also homemade - lots of carmelized onions give it an especially good taste.
In addition to everything else, La Pizzeria has more than a dozen specialty pizzas - or make your own from a large selection of toppings. They also have sandwiches, rollups, salads and appetizers. Certainly something for everyone. And you can eat in, eat on the deck, take out, or get it delivered. Not to be taken for granted, La Pizzeria is a little gem in the center of town. Congratulations to Gennaro and Andrew for ten successful years.
