1. Cape Neddick Lightstation AKA Nubble Light.

Called the "Nubble Light" because it sits on a "nub" of a rock in the Atlantic Ocean, the lighthouse is one of the  most photographed lighthouses in the country. This 1879 lightstation is off Route 1A, between Long Sands and Short Sands Beach. Take Shore Road from Ogunquit to 1A to Nubble Road.  The nubble is a "must see" if you are visiting Maine!   http://lighthouse.cc/capeneddick

2. Stonewall Kitchens.

Stonewall kitchens is a gay-owned purveyor of speciality foods. They offer incredible jams, dressings, mixes and other foods.  This cafe and factory outlet store offers samples, demonstrations and beautiful surroundings. You may bump into Martha Stewart or other celebrities in one of their beautiful showrooms!  Take Route One south from Ogunquit 7.3 miles, located next to the York Information Office and close to Route 95. http://www.stonewallkitchen.com/

3. Flo's Hot Dog Stand.

OK, don't laugh, you have all seen the "Soup Nazi" episode in "Seinfeld"? Well this is the Maine version.  Located on Route One 5 + miles south of Ogunquit, Flo's has been proudly serving Maine style hot dogs for over 50 years, so get in line and get your dog(s)! The uniqueness of Flo's is in the secret sauce (which is not available for sale). The sauce is a relish, or chutney type of sauce. Eat your dogs the Maine way: celery salt and some Flo's relish in this roadside quonset hut! Open 11 - 3 Closed Wednesdays.

4. Mount Agamenticus.

The Mount Agamenticus Conservation Region contains 10,000 acres of land and is one of the largest remaining expanses of undeveloped forests in coastal New England. The region is known for its abundance of vernal pools, rich biodiversity, and unique trail system and is home to many of Maine’s rare plants and animals. This "mini" mountain once was a local ski resort. There is a cute lodge with beautiful ocean and mountain views.
Mt A is easy to get to from Ogunquit. Go Route One south to Mountain Road ( At Flo's Hot Dog's ) and follow the signs!   http://www.agamenticus.org/

5. York Beach.

Remember when you were a kid and there were delightful beach towns with active family friendly things to do? York Beach is the quintessential beachey - kitschy, yet charming - sea-side community. There is an abundance of diners, gift shops and small amusements to keep you busy for an afternoon. Make sure you go to the The Golden Rod for genuine salt water taffy! From carousels to arcades, York Beach has it all!

6. Historical York Village.

Old York Village. The Museum Buildings of Old York are open June through Columbus Day weekend. When visiting you'll experience over 300 years of New England heritage while listening to tales of sea captains and their families, jailers, prisoners and others. http://www.oldyork.org.

The Old School House. Part of the Museums of Old York, this schoolhouse served the Cider Hill area of York, Maine for almost one hundred years. Today the Old Schoolhouse teaches thousands of children, and other visitors, about education during the 18th century. Hands-on experiences and first person interpretations enhance the experience. 7. Antiques, Antiques, Antiques.

Coastal Maine is dotted with many unique shops.  There are several on Route One.  A favorite is Columbary House Group Shop, located on Route One South, 4 + miles from Ogunquit village center. http://www.columbaryhouse.com/  

8. Foster's Clam Bake, York Harbor.

Do you want authentic Maine Clam Bake?? This is it! Should not be missed. There is something unforgettable about Foster’s traditional New England clambakes. Traditional New England clambake is served with award-winning clam chowder. Steamers (soft-shell clams) bursting with flavor. Fresh veggies and tender corn on the cob. And of course the fresh Maine lobster, so sweet and succulent that it practically melts in your mouth.
