The town of Ogunquit was quite busy this week, when the studios of Hollywood took over the village and used the town for its set of the major motion picture; EMPIRE FALLS.

HBO Films starts production on EMPIRE FALLS, starring Ed Harris, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Helen Hunt, Paul Newman, Robin Wright Penn, Adain Quinn and Joanne Woodward. Adapted by Richard Russo ("Mohawk," "Nobody's Fool") from his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, the film is directed by Fred Schepisi ("A Cry in the Dark," "Six Degrees of Separation").

EMPIRE FALLS tells the humorous, insightful story of a small New England town and its inhabitants, whose lives are deeply influenced by the river that dominates the landscape, their class differences, and ghosts of the past which continue to shape their futures. Many local resident were used for extras, in beach scenes.
